The Happy Tummy Dog Kitchen
Gentle homemade meals for dogs with sensitive stomachs, and a 3-phase plan from chicken and rice back to everyday food.

Chicken and rice worked. Then what?
The usual advice is chicken and rice, and it’s good advice for a day or two. What nobody tells you is what comes after.
Rest day, small portions- Cleaning the carpet at 3 a.m., again
- Chicken and rice, and no plan for day 4
- A new “sensitive” bag every month
- A spoonful of pumpkin, and hoping
- Not sure when it’s a vet problem
- A 1–7 stool score that shows the trend
- Days 4 to 7 mapped out, bowl by bowl
- Fewer ingredients, one change at a time
- Honest pumpkin and psyllium amounts
- Warning signs on the very first page
Not a weak stomach. A missing next step.
Chicken and rice is good advice for a day or two. Then the bowl often jumps straight back to the old food, a new bag or a fatty scrap, and the tummy flares again. What’s missing is the steps in between.
RestRoutineThe problem
Bland food is a short break, not a diet. In a study of 200 homemade dog food recipes, 95% were short on at least one essential nutrient, and fatty food is a common trigger.
The fix
Three phases. Rest: one lean protein, one easy starch. Rebuild: fiber and one new ingredient every 2–3 days. Routine: everyday bowls you can keep cooking.
The result
A clear plan for every day, a stool score that shows the trend, and a way back to everyday food without guessing.

Why not just another “sensitive” bag?
OakpawA new bagWhat tummy-trouble owners ask first
When is it a vet problem, not a recipe problem?
Blood in the stool or vomit, black stool, vomiting more than twice in 24 hours, a swollen belly with retching, weakness, or diarrhea for more than 2 days. Puppies, seniors and small dogs sooner. The book opens with this page.
Isn’t chicken and rice enough?
For a day or two, yes. It’s a short break, not a complete diet: in a study of 200 homemade recipes, 95% were short on at least one nutrient. That’s why the book moves you on to Rebuild and Routine, with a vitamin-mineral mix for full meals.
Should I fast my dog first?
That advice is outdated. In one study, puppies with severe diarrhea who were fed early improved faster. Skip one meal at most, then start with small, plain portions.
Does pumpkin help?
A little. Canned pumpkin is about 90% water, and a medium dog would need almost 12 cups a day to match the fiber of a high-fiber vet diet. The book gives honest amounts by weight, and shows when plain psyllium is the stronger option.
Can I use the recipes alongside his regular food?
Yes. From week 2 you choose Way A, a topper of up to 10% of daily calories on his complete food, or Way B, full meals with a vitamin-mineral mix made for homemade diets, planned with your vet.
